Board of Trustees Announces Plans

To the First Presbyterian Day School Community:

We are writing this letter to inform you that our Head of School, Gary Herring, will be retiring at the conclusion of the 2018 school year.  In December, Gary advised the First Presbyterian Day School Board that he planned to retire in 2018.  The officers of First Presbyterian Church received his formal notification on January 10, 2017, at its regular monthly meeting.  Gary kept the Board fully apprised of his retirement plans, and while we knew this day was coming, it is with much sadness and deep regret that the timeframe for his departure is set, and his retirement plans are now official.  The Board of the First Presbyterian Day School will work diligently to have a replacement chosen by the time of Gary’s retirement, but, out of respect for the prospective candidates, and the process, the Board will not be releasing any more information regarding the search.

Gary has faithfully served First Presbyterian Day School for 30 years, and we recognize that it will be a tremendous challenge to find someone with his ability, energy, and love for Christian education.  His shoes will be tough to fill, but we are convinced that the Lord will lead the right person to us and that First Presbyterian Day School will continue to provide the finest Christian education for its students.

Please join all of us in thanking Gary for his many years of faithful service.

Sincerely,

First Presbyterian Day School Board of Trustees
