After-School Activities

First Presbyterian Day School offers a myriad of extracurricular activities for students. 

*Classes begin each new school year the Tuesday after Labor Day. 

Bricks 4 Kidz

(Kindergarten meets Thursdays from 1:30 - 2:30; First and Second meet Thursdays from 2:45 - 3:45)

Bricks 4 Kidz classes provide an extraordinary atmosphere for children, where we learn, we build, we play… with LEGO® Bricks. Programs are built around our proprietary model plans, designed by engineers and architects, with exciting themes such as space, construction, and amusement parks.  Our specially designed project kits and theme-based models provide the building blocks for the Bricks 4 Kidz approach to educational play. At Bricks 4 Kidz, we believe that kids learn best through activities that engage their curiosity and creativity.

Drama Kids

(Kindergarten meets Mondays from 1:30 - 2:15; First through Sixth meet Mondays from 2:45 - 3:45)

The Drama Kids program is specially designed to build self-confidence, as well as strong speaking and acting skills through the fun and creativity of drama. We believe that enthusiastic students who speak out clearly and relate confidentially with their peers develop skills that make their journey through life much easier. Above all, our drama classes are fast-paced, fun, and have new activities each week.

Kiddy Keys

(Kindergarten meets Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:00; private lessons are offered for any ages on Tuesday afternoons)

Kiddy Keys is a weekly class for children who love music; it is NOT a weekly one-on-one traditional music lesson.  It IS piano-focused and gives children skills that prepare them for formal music lessons should they be interested as they get older. Our mission is to introduce music appreciation and understanding to young children using an interactive group learning environment that helps each child develop, value, and experience basic music skills.

Manners by Mrs. Wright

Manners 1

(Kindergarten meets Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:00; First through Fifth meet Tuesdays from 2:45 - 3:45 ** both from September 13 - October 4 

Manners 2 - same ages, day, and times from October 11 - November 8

*You must complete Manners 1 before moving to Manners 2

Taught by a certified trainer from the prestigious American School of Protocol in Marietta, Georgia, Manners by Mrs. Wright acquaints children with points of etiquette. Key points include meeting and greeting, telephone and dining skills, and introductions and first impressions.

Pure Energy

(Girls - First through Sixth grades meet Wednesdays 3:00 - 4:00)

Pure Energy is comprised of girls in first through sixth grades. It features age-appropriate lyrical, interpretive, and jazz dance choreography to contemporary Christian and Classic music that girls will know. Our focus is to encourage self-expression through dance, music, and performances while offering a Christian atmosphere in which to glorify God. The mission of Pure Energy is to provide students with the opportunity to interact with others, learn commitment and self- discipline, while developing a passion for serving the Lord through performing and visual arts. Our commitment is to celebrate your children and all of their unique qualities and talents that make them exactly who God designed them to be.

Science Explorers

(Kindergarten meets Mondays from 2:00 - 2:40)

Science Explorers is a hands-on science program designed to captivate the curious nature of young children. Its primary focus is to teach children to explore how the world works through their senses and creativity, thought-provoking experiments, observation, exploration, and profound learning. Students will learn how to ask questions, develop a hypothesis, test their assumptions, draw conclusions, and communicate results in a fun learning environment.

Soccer Shots

(Kindergarten meets Tuesdays from 1:00 -2:00; first through third grade meet 2:45 - 3:45)

Soccer Shots is a nationally recognized program that offers a high energy, fun and age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. We also work on improving children’s gross motor skills and teaching children important concepts such as teamwork, sharing, and respect. Our goals is to leave a lasting, positive impact on every child we serve.

Students With Advanced Technology (S.W.A.T. Team)

Because we strive to meet the needs of all of our students at FPDS and realize future technologies lie within them, we are pleased to introduce S.W.A.T. (Students With Advanced Technology) to our FPDS after-school programs this year. Our S.W.A.T. Team will consist of 4th-6th graders who have a passion for learning about technology. Led by Mr. Trey Tracy and Mrs. Carol Brister, S.W.A.T. students will meet on Tuesdays from 3 - 4:00 in the Idea Lab. This program will run for 10 weeks (February 7 - April 18) for this semester. Space is limited and students will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis.

Tiger-Rock Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do)

(Kindergarten meets Wednesdays from 1:15 - 2:00; first through third grade meet 2:40 - 3:40)

The mission of Tiger-Rock is to empower students by enriching their personal, artistic, and professional lives through Tiger-Rock training.  While providing students with the various benefits resulting from highly functional training, Tiger-Rock believes the highest purpose of our programs is to prepare students for the responsibilities of citizenship.  Tiger-Rock programs are about real and powerful experiences, resulting in the discovery of innate capabilities and a heightened sense of responsibility.  To that end, we encourage our students to use their knowledge to improve our communities through one act of leadership, public service, and mentoring at a time.

In TOTs - teams of tomorrow - teaches fundamental and creative basketball. TOTs is a creative and unique way for a student to learn, experience and master all sorts of ball handling tricks. TOTs teachers will model, encourage, and inspire students to be the very best that they can be. Your child will attain many new skills that will instill a drive and motivation that will carry over into all areas of your child's life.
